Brazilian Condensed Milk Flan

Condensed Milk Flan is a classic Brazilian dessert, known for its silky texture and caramelized topping. Made with sweetened condensed milk, eggs, and whole milk, this flan-like dessert is simple to prepare yet rich in flavor. Ingredients

For the Caramel:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water

For the Flan:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Caramel

  • In a small saucepan, heat the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts and turns golden brown.
  • Carefully add water (slowly), stirring until smooth.
  • Immediately pour the caramel into a flan mold (or Bundt pan), tilting it to coat the bottom.

2. Blend the Flan Mixture

  • In a blender, combine condensed milk, whole milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  • Blend for 30 seconds until smooth.

3. Bake in a Water Bath

  • Pour the mixture into the caramelized mold.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and place inside a larger baking dish.
  • Fill the larger dish with hot water (halfway up the mold).
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted comes out clean.

4. Chill and Unmold

  • Let the pudim cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  • To unmold, run a knife along the edges, place a plate on top, and flip gently.
