Condensed Milk Flan is a classic Brazilian dessert, known for its silky texture and caramelized topping. Made with sweetened condensed milk, eggs, and whole milk, this flan-like dessert is simple to prepare yet rich in flavor. Ingredients
For the Caramel:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
For the Flan:
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Caramel
- In a small saucepan, heat the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts and turns golden brown.
- Carefully add water (slowly), stirring until smooth.
- Immediately pour the caramel into a flan mold (or Bundt pan), tilting it to coat the bottom.
2. Blend the Flan Mixture
- In a blender, combine condensed milk, whole milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Blend for 30 seconds until smooth.
3. Bake in a Water Bath
- Pour the mixture into the caramelized mold.
- Cover with aluminum foil and place inside a larger baking dish.
- Fill the larger dish with hot water (halfway up the mold).
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
4. Chill and Unmold
- Let the pudim cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- To unmold, run a knife along the edges, place a plate on top, and flip gently.
